What a local move looks like here
Chatham isn’t one kind of street, and that’s the whole point of surveying before we quote. A move out of a terrace on Luton Road is a different day from a flat above the High Street, which is different again from a semi up in Walderslade with a long drive and a low garage. We’d rather know which we’re walking into.
So the first thing we do is look — a quick video walk-round if you’re short of time, or a visit if the job’s big or awkward. We note the volume, the floors, the lift or the stairs, and the one detail that catches people out more than any other around here: where the lorry can actually stop. Half of Medway is on-street parking on a slope, and a load-in goes smoothly or badly depending on whether we sorted that in advance.

Parking, access and the bits that go wrong
The most common hold-up on a Medway move isn’t the packing — it’s the fifty feet between the front door and the tailgate. If your street needs it, we’ll arrange a bay suspension or cone off space with Medway Council ahead of the day, and where the lorry genuinely can’t get close we bring a smaller vehicle to shuttle the load down. On the tight terraced runs near the Paddock and around Luton, that shuttle is the difference between a calm morning and a scramble.
Getting in and out of the town is the easy part. The A2 runs straight through, the M2 picks up at junction 3 or 4, and the A289 links Chatham across to Strood and the Medway City Estate. For anything heading further — London, the coast, or the Channel ports for a European move — we’re on a fast road within minutes. That matters less for a local hop and a lot for the longer runs.

Most of what we do is household. My street in Chatham is terraced with no driveway — is that a problem?
No, it’s the norm around here. A lot of ME4 and ME5 is Victorian terrace with on-street parking and a bit of a hill. We check the parking situation at the survey, sort a suspension or a cone-off with the council if the load-in needs it, and bring a smaller vehicle to shuttle if the lorry can’t get close.
Do you move flats above the shops on the High Street?
Regularly. Upper-floor flats with a narrow communal stair are a case of the right crew size and proper protection on the walls and banisters. We’d rather send an extra pair of hands than rush a wardrobe round a tight landing.
Can you do office and business moves in Medway?
We do. Small offices around Chatham Maritime and the business parks, shops changing premises, that sort of thing. Those usually run in the evening or over a weekend so nobody loses a working day — we plan the sequence so the phones and the essentials come off the van first.
Do you offer storage if my dates don’t line up?
